The fourth edition of skip-a-beat's Absolut Creative Commune, continuing the Born Colourless commission with three artists reinterpreting identity, bias, and cultural fluidity across sculpture, illustration, and miniature-making. Each artist recorded an episode of The Process and revealed their finished piece on Instagram.
Here’s how Damini Gupta brought her vision of “Born Colourless” to life. “I’ve always worked in two dimensions, but clay pushed me into something more tactile and unpredictable. Imperfect, expressive, and constantly shifting, just like us. To me, ‘Born Colourless’ is about how we begin as one thing and are endlessly shaped by our experiences. 588 frames, all built and animated by hand, balancing control with instinct.” “Of The Same Stuff” — created by Damini Gupta for Absolut Creative Commune.
A closer look into Era’s world for Absolut Creative Commune. Drawn to everyday oddities, peculiar details, and unexpected combinations, Era’s practice is shaped by curiosity, humour, and observation. From strange dog postures to imagined circus cats in tuxedos, her work finds joy in the things most people overlook. “While working on Born Colourless, I realised the idea was no longer about a single identity or perspective. It became a celebration of multiple voices coexisting together, shaped by difference, individuality, and shared experiences.” Created by Era for Absolut Creative Commune.
Here’s how Abhijit Vinayak transformed his vision of “Born Colourless” into a miniaturised world. “As a 3D artist, any scene in India is an insanely intricate model to build, you can’t just duplicate a few structures and call it a day. This piece is my ‘Oh Really?’ to anyone trying to view the world in black and white — like a craft table of identities, languages, fashion, and stories.”
